FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY:

Customs Documentation Specialist (CDS) is responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant processing of import and export shipments through customs, arranging domestic trucking and performing other value-added services as required.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process customs documentation, with a focus on Type 10, 20, and 21 entries for both ocean and air shipments.
  • Review and verify shipping documents to ensure compliance with customs regulations.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting accurate customs entries to ensure timely clearance of goods.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve customs-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of shipments, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Utilize Excel extensively for data entry, reporting, and analysis of customs-related information.
  • Assist senior staff with daily customs processing tasks and special projects as needed.
  • Prepare paper entries for submission to CBSA.
  • Comply with safety regulations
  • Proactively seeking out other areas when assignments are complete as continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Global Logistics Management or related field
  • Previous experience in customs clearance, brokerage, import/export operations, domestic transportation is an asset
  • Possess experience with ocean and air shipment processing.
  • Basic knowledge of Type 10, 20, and 21 entries.
  • Knowledge of Duty Drawbacks and B2 adjustments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and dangerous goods
  • Experience with SAP, or related enterprise software platform.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and in particular strong Excel skills, including working with large datasets, formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in English, especially in writing and speaking
