FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Lead Supervisor, the Dock Lead is responsible for performing the tasks and responsibilities of various warehouse operations jobs including forklift operations, logistics coordination, shipping and receiving.  In addition to performing multiple warehouse jobs, the Dock Lead will support the Lead Supervisor to oversee warehouse operations ensuring best practice processes are known and adhered to by warehouse team members. 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to perform multiple warehouse tasks including overseeing dock operations, forklift/ pallet jacks / hand trucks operations, receiving, skid counts, inventory records, schedule management, shipment coordination with carriers, trailer inspections to support on-time completion of daily tasks ensuring customer service standards are met 
  • Utilizes radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment to track inventory.
  • Communicates and works with team members to ensure proper movement of materials through the warehouse
  • Provides training, motivation and assists team members to carry out tasks and responsibilities in a safe, standardized and efficient manner 
  • Provides peer support for the purpose of on-the-job training of new hires (including temporary staff)
  • Influences warehouse team members to follow approved warehouse operating procedures for inspections, damages, replenishment, cleanliness, order picking, shipping, receiving and cycle counts escalating to Lead Supervisor when necessary
  • Plays a leadership role in daily shift briefings ensuring team member concerns are addressed
  • Suggests ideas for continuous improvements and assists with implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Completes Team Lead Daily Shift Report and reviews with Lead Supervisor prior to the end of the shift
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports for Management 
  • May be required to work multiple shifts during peak business periods or vacation coverage as required to meet customer service levels
  • Oversees the shift in the Lead Supervisor’s absence
  • Adhere to all safety standards, regulations, laws, and policies, including identifying and resolving safety concerns and reporting all accidents or near-miss situations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Warehouse floor environment with exposure to noise and dust.
  • May work inside and outside in all different types of weather elements.
  • Lifting of boxes that can result in injury to back, feet or hands.
  • May require working on weekends or extended hours during peak times.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform multiple, repetitive tasks with hand and leg movements during shift.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of secondary school diploma preferred or the equivalent in combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to attend and participate in training and development programs as required.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Forklift Certification from a recognized training provider. One or a combination of the following equipment experience and certification – Raymond Reach, Dock Stocker, Counterbalance and/or Walkie. (MHE is site specific)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years’ experience in warehouse operations, particularly in material handling, dock operations, and logistics coordination and a proven track record for safety
  • Experience using scanners, barcode readers, warehouse management software, and other digital equipment and systems (preferred) 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read, write, and understand documents related to freight movement (BOLs, manifests, hazardous or dangerous goods labels/placards)
